No one is expected to be thrilled about having a double chin. This problem affects millions of adults of all ages. It is a common misconception that excess submental fullness only occurs if a person is overweight. This is part of the issue, actually. A double chin adds weight to the face. It therefore gives the illusion of both age and excess weight in general. People who are troubled by a double chin don’t have to suffer in silence. Liposuction: Fat Reduction In A Single Procedure
Many people know about liposuction as an effective procedure that can remove excess fat from areas like the abdomen and thighs. Over time, surgeons have become adept at sculpting numerous areas of the body using the liposuction technique. The chin is one of them. The procedure can be performed with a local anesthetic that numbs the upper neck and lower face. Patients feel no pain. After chin liposuction, patients may need a few days to recover from mild swelling and bruising. After that time, fat is gone for good.
CoolSculpting: Quick, Convenient, And Lasting
CoolSculpting is a popular non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that eliminates unwanted fat through natural processes. Treatment involves placing a small applicate around the area of submental fullness. A relatively odd suction sensation may be felt. The applicator then cools subcutaneous fat to the point of freezing. The skin may get red and cold, but there is no risk of damage when treatment is performed by a trained professional (no frostbite, here!). While non-invasive with no downtime, CoolSculpting does not work immediately. Patients may start to see a change about 2 weeks after their appointment. The complete fat-elimination process from one treatment can take up to 12 weeks. Multiple sessions may be needed to achieve the desired result.
Kybella: Fast And Fine-Tunable
Kybella is similar to CoolSculpting in that this treatment instigates fat destruction and natural elimination. Injections may take an hour or less, including the time it takes to numb the skin. Kybella inserts deoxycholic acid into the subcutaneous space, where it eventually gets absorbed by fat cells. Until the fluid gets absorbed, the area beneath the chin may look noticeably full. It may feel “squishy,” too. After a few days, the liquid gets absorbed and swelling becomes easier to conceal. The results of Kybella can take several weeks. Like CoolSculpting, Kybella may take a few fine-tuning sessions to get the desired outcome.
