5 Skin Care Tips You Need This Fall

As the leaves on the trees start to change colors and summer transitions into autumn, your wardrobe choices will evolve from bikinis and shorts to light sweaters and jeans. Your wardrobe is not the only change you should make as one season morphs into the next, however. You should also consider changing your skincare routine.

The same skincare regimen that leads to dewy skin and a healthy flush during the warm summer months could cause dry, flaky, irritated skin during the cooler, dryer autumnal months. Nonetheless, you can maintain youthful, healthy-looking skin this fall, thanks to the following five fall skincare tips from Dr. Himansu Shah of Signature Institute of Aesthetic Sculpting.

Cleanse Gently

A lightweight, fruit-scented gel might have been the perfect body wash during summer, to keep you feeling clean and refreshed. However, you should consider a more hydrating body wash formula for the dryer fall months. Opt for a soap-free and / or creamier option for optimal hydration.

Exfoliate Routinely

The salt and sand that are often associated with summer help to exfoliate the skin naturally. As we head into fall, you might need extra help sloughing away the dry, dead skin cells that have likely accumulated on your skin throughout summer. Use an oil-based exfoliating scrub for both an exfoliating and moisturizing effect. Exfoliate every two to three days (or more or less often), depending on your individual skincare needs.

Moisturize Regularly

The weather during summer can be more humid in certain areas, with more moisture in the air. That’s not typically the case during autumn. To combat the effect that arid, dry fall weather can have on your skin, use a cream-based moisturizer every day, right after you get out of the shower, when your skin is still a bit damp. This will help seal in moisture.

Apply Sunscreen Liberally

Although the sky may be cloudier and the temperatures may be lower during fall, the sun and its ultraviolet (UV) rays are still present. UVA rays are largely responsible for wrinkles and other premature signs of aging while UVB rays often cause sunburns and may lead to skin cancer. Avoid the effects of UV radiation on your skin by liberally applying sunscreen to your face and the exposed parts of your body (preferably with a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or more) every day.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help!

Sometimes, you can take perfect care of your skin and still be bothered by visible signs of sun damage or premature aging. Thankfully, Dr. Shah can help. At Signature Institute of Aesthetic Sculpting, Dr. Shah and his medical spa team offer a range of nonsurgical skincare treatments to help you achieve healthy, radiant skin, any time of year.

Some of his most popular nonsurgical aesthetic treatments include intense pulsed light (IPL) photo-facials, medical-grade chemical peels and skin resurfacing treatments. These and several other treatments he offers are designed to improve signs of hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and other aesthetic concerns that are often caused by chronic sun overexposure during summer.

The Las Vegas medspa also offers facial injectables such as BOTOX, which relaxes facial muscles, thereby temporarily smoothing out the overlying wrinkles; and dermal fillers to restore lost volume to areas of the face lacking fullness, or to enhance certain facial features, such as the lips.

To schedule a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Shah or an aesthetician at his medspa and learn more about your nonsurgical skincare treatment options, please contact Signature Institute of Aesthetic Sculpting by calling 702-684-5502 now.
